Trending News Writer

If you're someone who lives online, has a sharp sense for what's going viral, and can write crisp, engaging stories of 400+ words, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:
- Spot and pitch trending stories in US politics, entertainment, celebrity culture, and internet news. Write clear, concise, and captivating stories under tight deadlines, optimized for digital consumption.
- Monitor and analyze social media platforms to identify viral trends and develop unique story angles. Conduct basic fact-checking and online verification to ensure accuracy and credibility.
- Write sharp headlines, strong leads, and clean copy that aligns with MEAWW's editorial tone.
- Collaborate with editors and peers to maintain publishing speed and quality.

Who We're Looking For:
- 1 to 4 years of experience in a newsroom or digital publishing environment.
- Familiarity with US current affairs, celebrity culture, and internet trends.
- Strong online research skills and ability to spot misinformation. Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills.
- Comfortable using CMS, Google Docs, MS Word, Excel; Canva knowledge is a bonus.
- Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to work independently and as part of a remote team. Open to feedback, adaptable to changing content priorities, and aligned with MEAWW's editorial guidelines.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field. Prior digital publishing or journalism internship/work experience preferred.

Requirements: A reliable laptop/PC and a high-speed internet connection. Uninterrupted access to electricity during shift hours.
